Commercial displays for shops and offices
A good display in a shop or office does quiet work all day. It shows prices, welcomes visitors, shares news, or points people to the right counter. A bad one is too dim, too small, or hard to update, and after a week nobody looks at it.
This guide explains it in plain English. By the end, you will know which size and type fits your space, and what to check before you buy.
What is a commercial display, and why not just use a home TV?
A commercial display is built to run in a business. It is made to stay on for long hours, to hang on a wall in portrait or landscape mode, and to show the same kind of content day after day.
A home TV can work for a short time in a quiet room, but it is not built for this job. It may dim over time, it may not be made for long daily use, and it often lacks the simple tools that help a business update content and control many screens.
If the screen is the face of your shop or lobby, buy a display made for that job.
Ask these 5 questions before you buy
1. Where will it live, and who needs to read it?
Start with the spot, not the screen.
- In a shop window or near the door, people see it from a few steps away and for only a few seconds. Keep the message short and large.
- In a lobby or waiting area, people sit close and have time to read. A clear menu, price list, or welcome message works well.
- On an office wall, the screen may show schedules, news, or team updates. It needs to be easy to read from desks across the room.
Walk the space first. Stand where your customers or visitors will stand, and picture the screen there.
2. What size fits the room?
Size is about viewing distance, not about buying the biggest screen you can afford.
- A small shop, a counter, or a small lobby often works well with a 43 inch or 50 inch screen.
- A medium shop, a larger lobby, or a meeting area often needs 55 inch or 65 inch.
- A large open space, a big lobby, or a wall seen from far away may need 75 inch or larger.
A simple test: if people must step back to read the whole screen, it is too big for the spot. If they must walk up close to read prices, it is too small.

3. How bright does it need to be?
Brightness is measured in nits. More nits means the screen stays easy to read in a bright room.
- A normal indoor room, away from windows, works fine with a standard indoor display.
- A bright room, near glass, or under strong lights needs a brighter screen, or the picture will look washed out.
- A screen that faces a window or direct sun is a different job. Do not buy a normal indoor display for that spot. Ask about a high brightness model made for window use.
The Samsung QB65C below is a 350 nit indoor display. That is a good fit for a normal shop or office, not for a sunlit window.
4. How many hours a day will it run?
Check the duty cycle. This tells you how many hours a day the display is made to run.
- 16/7 means up to 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. That fits most shops and offices.
- 24/7 means it can run all day and all night. That fits lobbies, transport areas, and places that never close.
Running a 16/7 display around the clock can shorten its life. Match the duty cycle to your real hours.
5. How will you update what is on screen?
A screen is only useful if updating it is easy.
Ask these points before you buy:
- Can you send content from a laptop or phone, without a cable every time?
- Can you set a schedule, so morning offers change to afternoon offers on their own?
- If you have more than one screen, can you update them from one place?
- Do you need help with mounting, or will the screen sit on a stand?
Samsung commercial displays use Tizen OS with MagicINFO, which is made for this kind of business content. Check that the model you pick includes the content tools you need and ask Majool if you are not sure.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying a home TV for a busy shop, then finding it is not made for long daily use.
- Picking a screen that is too small for the distance people read it from.
- Forgetting about brightness in a bright room.
- Buying a screen with no simple way to update content, so the same old message stays up for months.
- Forgetting mounting and power. Check the wall, the mount, and where the cable will go before the screen arrives.
Quick checklist
Use this before you order:
- Where will it live, and who will read it?
- What size fits that viewing distance?
- How bright does the room need it to be?
- How many hours a day will it run, 16/7 or 24/7?
- How will you update the content, and from where?
- Portrait or landscape, and how will it be mounted?
- Do you need more than one screen, now or later?
If you can answer those seven points, you can choose with confidence.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a regular TV as a shop display?
You can for a short time, but a commercial display is the safer buy for daily business use. It is made for longer hours, wall mounting in portrait or landscape, and business content tools.
Do I need 4K?
For most shops and offices, 4K helps text and images look sharp, even up close. It matters most for menus, price lists, and detailed images. For simple welcome messages, it matters less, but it still gives you a clearer picture.
How do I change what is on screen?
Many Samsung commercial displays let you send content over a network or with a USB drive, and schedule changes in advance. Ask Majool which method fits your setup, and whether you need help with the first setup.
Can one display serve a whole shop?
Often, yes, if it is in the right spot and the right size. For a large shop, a second screen near the counter or entrance can help, so people see the message at more than one point.
