Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 14" Copilot+ PC, 32GB, 512GB, 21NS005UUS

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 is a 2.17 lb business ultrabook built around Intel's Core Ultra 7 268V with vPro. It is a Copilot+ PC, so the AI features in Windows 11 run on the laptop itself rather than in the cloud, and it still weighs less than most tablets with a keyboard case.

Copilot+ PC with a 48 TOPS neural processor

The Core Ultra 7 268V includes a neural processing unit rated at 48 TOPS, which is what qualifies a machine as a Copilot+ PC. Features like Live Captions, Cocreator and Windows Studio Effects run on the device, so they work without a connection and nothing leaves the laptop.

• Intel Core Ultra 7 268V with vPro, 8 cores, 12MB cache
• 2.2 GHz base, up to 5.0 GHz turbo
• 48 TOPS NPU
• 32GB LPDDR5X at 8533 MHz
• 512GB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD
• Intel Arc 140V graphics

Memory is soldered at 32GB and cannot be upgraded later, which is normal for this class of ultrabook. Specify the capacity you need at purchase.

14 inch touchscreen at 500 nits

The 1920 x 1200 IPS panel runs at 500 nits, which is bright enough to work next to a window or outdoors in shade. The 16:10 shape gives more vertical space than a 16:9 screen, so a document or a code file shows more lines before scrolling. 100% sRGB coverage and an anti-glare finish, with 10-point multi-touch.

Managed by IT, with vPro

Intel vPro gives your IT team remote management and hardware-level security that works even when the operating system will not boot. Combined with discrete TPM 2.0, a fingerprint reader, an IR camera for Windows Hello and a physical camera shutter, this is a laptop built to be deployed in numbers rather than bought one at a time.

Ports that mean no dongle bag

• 2 x USB-C Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 at 40Gbps, with Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 2.1
• 2 x USB-A 5Gbps, one of them Always On for charging a phone with the lid shut
• 1 x HDMI 2.1, up to 4K at 60Hz
• 3.5mm headphone and microphone combo

Two USB-A ports on a laptop this thin is unusual and genuinely useful. Most machines in this class dropped them.

All day on a 57Whr battery

A 57Whr 3-cell battery with a 65W USB-C adapter. The Lunar Lake generation of Core Ultra is built for efficiency, which is what lets a 2.17 lb machine last a working day. Charge from any USB-C charger of sufficient wattage, so the adapter can stay at the desk.

Carbon fiber, under 2.2 lb

Carbon fiber top and aluminum bottom, 12.31 x 8.45 x 0.58 inches, 2.17 lb. ThinkPads are tested to MIL-STD 810H, and the keyboard is the reason many people will not switch brands.

Worth knowing before you order

• No built-in Ethernet. Use a USB-C dock or adapter if you need a wired connection
• No WWAN. This configuration has no cellular option
• No memory card reader
• Memory is not upgradable. 32GB is the maximum and it is soldered
